Experiment with Langlais

  • by

This project is currently running in the Social STUDIO! Stop in to create a square to add to our collaborative display.

After exploring the exhibition, “Bernard Langlais: Live and Let Live”, draw inspiration from Langlais’ experimental practice to create a nature inspired layered composition.

Suggested Materials:

  • Sticks
  • Brown yarn or jute
  • Wooden buttons
  • Liquid glue
  • Scissors
  • Brown felt
  • Sandpaper
  • 4×4 cardboard square
  • Brown construction paper
  • Brown and black markers
  • Whatever you’d like to add of your own!

How To:

  1. Check out “Bernard Langlais: Live and Let Live” exhibit at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. Unable to be in attendance? Check out Langlais’ work, here.
  2. Gather the materials you would like to use.
  3. Start with your 4×4 cardboard square. This will act as your base, or canvas.
  4. Using your selected materials, draw inspiration from Bernard Langlais’ work to create a nature inspired layered composition on your cardboard square.

For example, in the exhibition there is work with flowers, animals, and natural wood shapes. You can use some or all of the materials listed above. Be creative!
