The Giving Bird Project

  • by

The Giving Bird Project encourages participants to express their hopes and dreams for the future and have a little fun! Kim Geiser, an illustrator, author, crafter, and creativity enthusiast, designed this project. In spring of 2020, Kim founded the Hello Happiness Creativity Center, a Sheboygan nonprofit that provides an inspiring space of learning, connection, support and renewal through creativity.

What you will need
A scissors, a pencil or pen, and tape
Optional: coloring materials such as markers, crayons, or colored pencils.

Step 1
Download and print the Sam the Seagull template and gather your scissors, coloring materials, and tape.

Step 2
Follow the steps to create Sam the Seagull. If you want to color your seagull and add designs, we suggest doing this first before cutting it out.

Optional: After you have cut the body out and before you attach the tail and wings, write a message of hope inside the body. This could be a secret message only you know is there.

Step 3
Once your seagull is complete find a spot for it to sit in your home or send it off to a friend. We would love to see where your bird is perched! Snap a photo and email it to studio@jmkac.org.

  1. Lovely idea and art project! I grew up in Racine and Door County. Now I live in Wyoming surrounded by beautiful mountains, but I miss Lake Michigan and the seagulls!
